Meisha Tate is one of the top MMA fighters in the world, and she's had some impressive bouts and memorable moments. She has recently come out of a temporary retirement, and a return to form is expected in 2022. As we look forward to her return, let's look back at some of her best bouts.

vs Jessica Eye

In 2015, Miesha Tate's victory over Jessica Eye gave her a four win streak and set her up for a title bout against Holly Holm in her next fight.

Jessica Eye came out with momentum early in this fight, but Miesha weathered the storm and took the bout the distance. Neither fighter was able to score a victory while the clock was running, but after the judges deliberated, they awarded the fight to Tate on points, 30 to 27. With this win over Eye, Miesha Tate proved she belonged in the upper echelon of UFC fighters.

vs Sara McMann

Just before defeating Jessica Eye, Miesha Tate took on Sara McMann earlier in the year at UFC 183. McMann was currently the number three ranked contender and Miesha Tate was looking to make a name for herself.

Coming off of back-to-back wins, Tate had momentum coming into the fight, but the first round didn't go as planned for Tate. Tate suffered an injury early in the fight and had to regroup with a new strategy in the later rounds. Tate turned it up in the second round, forcing McMann to go on the defensive, and early in the last round Miesha Tate was able to take McMann to the canvas and force a submission for the victory.

vs Julie Kedzie

In 2012, Miesha Tate took on Julie Kedzie for her last Strikeforce bout before moving on to the UFC.

Tate and Kedzie went back and forth with each fighter winning one of the first two rounds, but Tate was able to showcase her grappling skills in the third preventing Julie Kedzie from gaining any advantage. In the end, Miesha was able to force Kedzie to submit to an arm bar late in the last round to secure a win in her final Strikeforce contest.

vs Marloes Coenen

In 2011, Miesha Tate won the 135-pound class tournament in Strikeforce setting her up for a title shot against then Strikeforce Bantamweight Champion Marloes Coenen.

Tate had plenty of momentum leading up to the title contest, coming into the bout on a five fight win streak. Miesha Tate's strategy was clear from the start; take the champ to the ground and look for a submission. While she had numerous takedowns during the fight, Tate was finally able to secure a victory a minute into the fourth round by locking in an arm triangle choke forcing an end to the fight. The win would give Tate the Strikeforce Bantamweight Title Belt.

vs Holly Holm

Miesha Tate's most memorable fight to date has to be the bout when she defeated Holly Holm for the UFC Women's Bantamweight title. Not only does this fight rank as one of the best women's division bouts of all time, it's a top 10 fight in UFC history regardless of division.

After failing to take the title belt from Ronda Rousey at UFC 168, Tate worked her way back into contention and earned her second chance at a UFC title against Holm at UFC 196. This bout did not disappoint fight fans as it went into the fifth round with no clear winner. Miesha Tate changed that as she was able to lock in a read naked choke hold at the 3:30 mark of the round to take the UFC Women's Bantamweight championship.

Upcoming: vs Lauren Murphy

Tate is rumored to drop from the bantam class to the 125-pound flyweight division to take on Lauren Murphy in 2022. This bout was originally thought to take place in April, but speculation has it that this match up will take place at a UFC event in May. While there are no official contracts signed for the fight, sources state that there is a verbal agreement and the details will be worked out fairly soon.
