Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is becoming one of the more popular fighting disciplines in the MMA world, and the UFC is no exception. There are many talented BJJ fighters in the UFC, so it's hard to name the best, but we've decided to try and list six of our favorites currently active in the UFC today.

Ronaldo Souza

Nicknamed "Jacare," or the "Alligator," Ronaldo Souza is known for locking on to opponents once he gets a hold of them. Most of Souza's wins come via submission, validating his moniker. Many of his opponents will do anything they can to keep the fight vertical because his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu grappling skills are so feared if he is able to take a foe to the mat.

At the time of writing, Ronaldo Souza's record stands at 26 and 10 with one no contest. Before his time in the UFC, Souza won eight gold medals in the World Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Championships.

Mackenzie Dern

One of the least experienced UFC fighters on this list, Mackenzie Dern is an accomplished American female Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fighter. She is a former number one ranked Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fighter internationally, and a name to watch in the future of the UFC women's division.

Dern has the distinction of holding a black belt in BJJ and has amassed an 11 and two record thus far in the UFC. She recently took time away from the octagon while pregnant, but look for her to make waves in the straw-weight division as one of the best pound-for-pound female athletes in the UFC and the MMA world today.

Demian Maia

The Brazilian Demian Maia is an accomplished MMA and UFC veteran who at the age of 44 has had a long and stellar career earning a 28 and 11 record to date.

Demian is a feared grappler and considered by many to be one of the best grapplers in UFC history. While never winning a major title in his two championship bouts, Maia is well respected in the UFC community and opponents do whatever they can to keep him at a distance to avoid being taken to the mat.

Charles Oliveira

Charles Oliveira is a third degree BJJ black belt and arguably the best submission expert in the UFC today. He currently holds the career record for the most submissions, is tied for most finishes and has the highest win-per-finish percentage in UFC history at 93.75.

Oliveira has competed at both the lightweight and featherweight levels and has amassed a 31 and eight record over the course of his UFC career. He is currently a top five ranked lightweight fighter in the world of MMA.

Brian Ortega

Brian Ortega is one of the up-and-coming American fighters that have excelled in the Brazilian martial arts. Ortega earned his black belt from the prestigious Gracie Jiu-Jitsu academy giving him instant credibility as one of the best in the discipline.

With a current record of 15 and two, with one of those losses coming against Max Holloway in a title bout, Brian Ortega's ability to grapple and choke out opponents using a variety of BJJ submissions make him a future contender to watch.

Nate Diaz

Nate Diaz is probably the most recognizable name on this list. Nate is known as a flamboyant fighter who isn't afraid to speak his mind leading up to a fight or even afterwards, causing him some controversy. He's amassed a 20 and 13 record including a surprising upset over Conor McGregor at UFC 196.

Being able to mix unique techniques and boxing with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu makes Diaz unpredictable in the octagon and exciting to watch.
